Back East Brewery, Bloomfield, CT

With spring coming, it's a great opportunity to enjoy some time at the newly renovated space at the Back East Brewery completed by Leading Edge Construction. Both the taproom bar and tables in this photo were handcrafted from reclaimed bowling alley flooring. The other very interesting feature is the dividing wall that is mounted on a pivot so it can swing open to create a special function space. Come take a look and maybe sample one of their fantastic craft beers!

Hazardville Institute

Leading Edge Construction is proud to have been selected by The Hazardville Institute Conservancy Society to act as General Contractor for the improvements to such a historic landmark as the Hazardville Institute.

In 1837, Col Augustus Hazard bought into the powder-manufacturing enterprise in the section of Enfield that would later become known as Hazardville. Hazard donated land (at the corner of Hazard Avenue and North Maple Street) for the construction of the Hazardville Institute, an Italianate-style building that was used as a meeting space by the community. It fell into disrepair in the 1970s and was saved from demolition by a group of preservationists in 1979.

Improvements to this property have been implemented in phases with the latest including upgrades to the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and fire alarm systems, completion of toilet room fixtures and accessories, new interior building finishes, and the completion of the rear entrance ramp making the building accessible and barrier-free. When complete, this building will continue to serve the community as originally intended by Col. Hazard.

Residential Group Home - Allied Community Services

25 Phelps Road, East Windsor, CT 06088

Allied Community Services decided to reassemble the team that designed and built their last group home. Working a second time with our friends at Maier Design Group,  Leading Edge Construction recently completed a new residential group home located at 25 Phelps Road in East Windsor, CT.  We pride ourselves on repeat clients, especially those that have such a great mission.

The mission at Allied Community Services is to “provide individuals with disabilities or other challenges the opportunity to live and enjoy a productive, independent, and fulfilling life.” Thank you to our client for placing their trust in Leading Edge Construction and for the opportunity to contribute to such a worthy and honorable mission!

Heirloom Market at Comstock Ferre Wethersfield, CT

Leading Edge Construction recently completed converting an existing 1200 sf greenhouse that is located at the rear of this building into a special events room. Inside this historic structure, we constructed a new tavern/bar using fronts preserved from the original seed bins and repurposed. Using these to clad the underside of the bar complements the rustic finishes with the new space use. This blends nicely with the Early American architecture of the original as well as the authentic post & beam interior structure. This new tavern area will continue to serve the award-winning beverages as well as new local beverages that will be offered.

This is the first phase of a multi-phased business expansion that will also include additional renovations to upgrade kitchen capabilities and a possible new craft beer brewery located in the barn at the rear of the site.

Norwich Community Development Corporation

Leading Edge Construction is grateful to have been selected to oversee the Norwich Revitalization Program. We look forward to working closely with the Norwich Community Development Corporation, NCDC Board, program applicants, and city agencies as we implement essential building improvements and code corrections that will increase the value and quality of real estate in this community. These efforts will contribute to a commitment to revitalizing this city which is rich in culture, history, and beautiful architecture and is called the "Rose of New England."

Tri-It Taproom, Avon, CT

Leading Edge Construction worked closely with the owners to fully understand their vision and to deliver the technical competence, creativity and craftsmanship necessary for Tri-It Taproom to successfully introduce the first self-pour taproom to this region. Another example of our continuing efforts to deliver best-in-class projects to our clients and to the community that we serve.

Our talented carpenters used their skills to install barn boards on the tap wall and other accented locations and constructed a live edge bar, creating a very comfortable gathering space for the consumers to enjoy the variety of Connecticut based beer, wine and ciders. The self-pour technology is fully integrated with a wireless network and scanning system that allows patrons to sample all 44 tap offerings or a pour of their favorite beverage. Several media screens are available above the taps and elsewhere for those sports fans that need to keep up with their teams! There is a cozy gathering space at the far end that provides softer seating and a fireplace. For those who prefer the outdoor experience, there is an exterior patio area furnished with barrel bistro tables.

Thank you to Tri-It Taproom for the opportunity to remain on the Leading Edge of innovation within our industry!
